All's fair in love and war, people who usually say these words are the individuals who successfully managed to take the upper hand. Where there is conflict, people can be expected to behave in the most vicious way possible. People tend to become deceitful in the course of gaining personal satisfaction. While it is true in some circumstances wherein the rules don't apply, but doesn't that make "cheating" acceptable to society?
Cheating in a relationship is morally unacceptable in our human culture but still others indulge in the tight grasp of lust and temptation. It often causes a relationship to crash and burn or even topple from it's peak. It is like a computer virus that deletes all your important data and leaves you with infected files that you no longer find useful.
If it is a disaster waiting to happen, why do we still engage in such activities? Why do we take the bait knowing that it's a trap? Why are we digging up our own grave and burying ourselves alive? There must be logical explanations why we do these kinds of things.
In my opinion, here are some reasons which I think can be correlated with such actions:
- Immaturity - Thinking that everything is just a game. We should learn to open our eyes to reality and act accordingly.
- Trust issues - If you did something terrible before, trust might become an issue, you can try reassuring your partner that you are a changed man/woman. It doesn't really help much but at least it gives your partner a little security.
- Personality and character incompatibility - When two persons with totally different perception of things come together, there are times that they clash and argue about their differences and they eventually develop the urge to go out and seek another whom he/she is more compatible with. There is always something that you have in common and there are always things that you don't have in common but help in complimenting each other. Talk your differences out and settle them in a mature manner. If you love a person it shouldn't be too hard to accept who he/she really is.
- Lost of interest - Being tired of the way things are and becoming discontent with the way things are going. In these cases all I can say is that you give each other another chance to work things out. Make efforts to make your relationship better. Again, it is never a valid reason for you to cheat on your partner. If there is a will to make things right, there is always a way.
- Constant fighting and misunderstandings - Arguments are supposed to help in making a relationship better and stronger but when we allow it to escalate until it reaches a point where we can no longer control it, it becomes poison and does the opposite of the desired outcome. Always learn to yield, give way and lower your pride by just a bit. Accept your mistakes and learn from them rather than arguing about something when you're obviously the one at fault.
- Boring relationship - There is no such thing as a boring relationship if you are really into the person you're with. But if you want a more exciting relationship then make the adjustments yourselves. You can engage in things you both find exciting like mountain climbing, snorkeling, scuba diving, bungee jumping, sky diving, water skiing, you get what I mean, be spontaneous and have fun.
- Unhealthy sex life - It is said that sex makes wonders in a relationship because it creates a bond not only of the physical aspect but also emotionally. But it shouldn't be a reason to cheat because it is something you should only give exclusively to your partner in life. Try experimenting on different ways to make your sex life more interesting. Show that there is love and passion in doing the deed while attempting other positions that suit you both or better yet, make your own kamasutra book. ;)
Nothing's really fair if it's based on lies and deceit.
